GLOBAL SPOTTING REPORTS
USA - NC and SC
Charlotte – Oct 2018
LANDSIDE
The top of the multi story car parks allow a lot of the commuter gates to be seen and most traffic should be logged on its way in or out. From here you can also see whats parked outside the Museum including Gulfstream N55RG. You may be able to see the Air National Guard ramp as well with its C17s.
Its possible to drive around the general aviation area and log whats there with several Biz noted. Also on the perimeter is an excellent viewing area located on the north west side. Its next to the central runway and has views of any arrivals taxiing in from the westerly runway. Movements on the easterly runway can be seen but difficult to read. I managed to get some arrivals with my camera. Some stuff will arrive and depart from the easterly runway so a few may be missed unless you have sbs.
AIRSIDE
Plenty of windows allow all gates to be seen. Various spots allow most flights to be seen.
HOTELS
Plenty in the area but none known with good views.
WHAT TO EXPECT
American Airlines dominate primarily with their fleet of CRJ 900s ending with NN. Most of them will be seen in a day along with several E175s, E145s and plenty of the mainline fleet as well. Very little else.
North and South Carolina - Other Airports - Apr 2013
Concord
About 20 minutes to the north east this airport is home to several Nascar companies. Hendricks Motorsports are here. However its not possible to get close to there hanger. A road on the opposite side of the airport at the north east corner will give views if your lucky enough that the hanger doors are open. Its possible to see inside some other hangers though. Joe Gibbs racing had 2 S2000’s and there was a CRJ for another team.
Maxton Laurinburg
About 3 hours or more to the east of Charlotte and on the way to South Carolina.
Several aircraft remain WFU here. Some can be seen from the road. Others where hidden behind trees. A little walk through the trees will actually take you right to the aircraft and onto the airfield itself as there is no perimeter fence so be careful.

2 DC10s N220US and N228us
5 B727s N204US, N275US, N299US, ? and ?

Raleigh Durham
Not really worth a visit. Fairly quiet with mostly regional jets from the mainline operators. A few bizjets where present but nothing worth making a special trip for.
Greensboro
En route from Charlotte to Raleigh. A massive airport with lots of hangers. Not a whole lot visible though. Cessna have a facility with a few bizjets parked up. Along with a few more on general aviation that’s it.
South Carolina – Charleston and Myrtle Beach
Charleston – Oct 2018
A large Air National Guard Base. 23 C17’s where parked up. The general aviation area and roads around the main terminal provided good views to log all of them.
Boeings second final production line for the B787 is located here and whatever is parked outside the hanger can be logged.
Very little mainline traffic to warrant hanging around with just a couple of aircraft on stand.
Myrtle Beach – Mar 2013
Again very little mainline traffic to warrant a stay but expect to see several D328’s and ATR’s in storage, maintenance or being broken up. I logged 18 in total as well as a Fed Ex ATR and Air Cargo Carriers S360 on cargo.
There are good views from the end of the runway on the beach side of the airport and a helicopter sightseeing business offering very cheap flights.
Brunswick – Oct 2018
Located inbetween Charleston and Jacksonville. Several stored aircraft remain including 4 B707s, 2 B727s and some ex Alaskan B737s at the time. I couldn’t read most of them off from the terminal side. It may be possible to venture around the other side to get a closer look though. There is a Gulfstream facility here with 6 noted.
