GLOBAL SPOTTING REPORTS
NEPAL
Kathmandu – Dec 2019
LANDSIDE
None seen
AIRSIDE
The international terminal has views over some of the international stands and runway. All movements should be seen.
The domestic terminal previously had views of some of the domestic ramp and all domestic movements should be seen. There should also be views of the hanger and military aircraft when getting bussed to and from the plane.
HOTELS
Hotel Meridian Suite with its rooftop restaurant. Nothing on stand can be seen. But anything taxiing in or out can be. The restaurant is on the 6th floor and has windows that open as well as an outdoor area. The staff didn't seem to care about me using binoculars and camera. My room on the 4th floor was just high enough for movements. I think they were 401, 402 and 403. There are rooms on the 5th floor. Maybe more expensive. Saying that it only cost me $32 but it was a decent standard. 5 beers and 2 meals cost the same and very tasty
WHAT TO EXPECT
The majority of the local fleets can be seen in a few hours with mid morning being better to see Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines who do more long haul flights. Only a few of the smaller aircraft turned up such as Let 410, Yun 12 and DHC6.
A few international flights. Biman B737, Air India / Indigo A320, Arabia A320, Bhutan A319 etc
