GLOBAL SPOTTING REPORTS
ANGOLA
Luanda - Jul 2018
AIRSIDE
Good views of the runways and some stands. All movements can be seen. I did use my camera a few times to identify some stuff. Nobody seemed interested in me.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A 3 hour connection from Lisbon to Johannesburg proved to be perfect for getting the based aircraft.
Lots of aircraft here but not much activity. TAAG B737s usually depart very early returning around 9am, as does a Sonair B737. There other B737 was parked up along with several B1900s of which 3 departed. 1 Helimalongo DHC8 and an Air Force AN72 also departed.
There were at least 12 Air Force, AN12s, AN72s, AN26s, IL76, YK42 along with 3 Government B707s and a DHC8.
3 based Biz. Air 26 E145/135s stored, a few E120s and DHC6s parked up. Servisairs B727 and MD80 stored as where 2 Diexim E120s and another B727.
It all depends where your aircraft is parked as to how much you will see. At the northern end is Sonairs ramp with a few stored aircraft. At the Southern end is the Military and Exec ramp along with some stored aircraft and small cul de sacs and sheds with various aircraft dotted around. A left seat for arrival and right for departure gives you the best chance, with a camera at the ready. I got lucky being parked at the far northern gate on arrival and departing from the far southern gate. I logged 49 but that could be significantly less if you don’t get good gates. I still missed maybe 10-15.
