GLOBAL SPOTTING REPORTS
MAURITIUS
Mauritius – Aug 2013
LANDSIDE
In the old terminal there was a viewing area with good views of the runway. However a brand new terminal was about to open so not sure whether this still exists.
If you have a car its possible to find the perimeter road with good views of arrivals. You can also find views of the hangers where Air Mauritius had several aircraft parked. Heat Haze was a problem though.
AIRSIDE
The new terminal looks like it should have good views.
HOTELS
There are a few hotels located near the airport in Maheborg. Whether the airport is busy enough to justify staying there is questionable.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Not particularly busy but along with the Air Mauritius fleet its possible to see Air Austral ATR’s and B737’s with Reunion Island only a short flight away. Air Madagascar and other regional airlines have occasional flights. On arrival I could see 2 D228’s which I assume to belong to the coastguard.
