BAHAMAS

Nassau – Aug 2010

LANDSIDE

No views from within the terminals. Turn right out of the terminal and you will find a car park overlooking a lot of the domestic stands. If you then walk out to the main road and turn right its possible you may get views of several more aircraft by exploring around here. It’s a reasonable walk.

There is an excellent spot at the threshold of the main runway, although its probably too far to walk. If you have a car then leave the airport and keep aiming left when you can. You should eventually find the perimeter road where you can park up. You can see some international gates from here and at the time everything taxied down for departure. However all the domestic traffic arriving was landing on a smaller cross runway and could only be logged on departure.

AIRSIDE

International terminal had views of this traffic. You couldn’t see domestic until it taxied for departure.

HOTELS

None at the airport. About a 30-40 minute from the main hotel area including Atlantis.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Expect a large proportion of the Bahamas fleet here. I logged over 20 various S340’s, B1900s, E110’s, metros as well as 6 gulfstreams.

Not greatly busy but very interesting and worth a few hours in the morning. Stuff you won’t see anywhere else.

SkyBahamas, Western Air and Pineapple air are the main operators. Several international flights operate with American Eagle, Delta and Jetblue noted.
