GHANA

Accra - Jul 2018

LANDSIDE
No Views

AIRSIDE
Views of the runway. Some stands can be seen and most stuff can be read with your eyes as it taxies in or out. Stands out to either side of the terminal can’t be seen so some stuff maybe missed unless you want to use binoculars here. Saying that a brand new terminal looks almost finished. It was full glass frontage and should have good views.

HOTELS
African Regent hotel - The airport itself can’t be seen but aircraft can be seen as they taxi out for departure as well as aircraft on approach. I arrived at night and had no idea which direction the airport was. I ended up with a view of the city. On the third floor at the end of a corridor is an outdoor balcony area with some seating. All movments can be seen from here. Windows at the end of the corridor on the 4th and 5th floors would have the same view. Top floor rooms are suites and cost $210 as opposed to $160. They do have balconies which would assist in the view. The hotel is in an L shape. Rooms at the far end of the other corridor should provide the same view as the balcony area. This only occurred to me after I left though so I don’t have the room numbers.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Not the busiest of airports. Africa World Airlines are the main carrier with there fleet of E145s in and out a few times day.

Arik had a daily B737 along with some of the other major African Carriers.

Former Ghana Airways DC9 9G-ADT remains derelict on the other side of the runway. As does another DC9 dumped slightly off airport near the runway threshold. However its unknown which one it is as there used to be two there.
