GLOBAL SPOTTING REPORTS
MOZAMBIQUE

Maputo – Jul 2018

LANDSIDE
Upstairs restaurant with good views of the runway. All movements can be seen. Some views across to the military ramp. However be careful. Ten years ago I had no problems using binoculars here but this time I got told photos are not allowed.
AIRSIDE
International departures has views but its at an angle and anything parked on domestic can’t be seen. Use of camera is not allowed.

HOTELS
None here

WHAT TO EXPECT
LAM Mozambique and maybe one or two other local planes. Very few movements.

The Air Force have several AN26s on the far side.

The B737-200 wreck by the side of the runway is still here. It has no markings but should be C9-BAM.
3 more old B737s parked by maintenance. One missing a tail. Presumably ex LAM machines.

You wouldn’t need to spend much time here but a worthwhile transit.

Years ago I stayed at kruger park in South Africa and drove into Mozambique via a tour guide. I then stayed at an Island near Maputo which was a good way of visiting the country. I then flew back to Johannesburg. From Kruger its possible to arrange day trips to Maputo. The driver won’t have an issue bypassing the airport.
