ECUADOR

Quito Mariscal Sucre – Feb 2019

LANDSIDE

Nothing from the terminal area. If you walk towards cargo and the Wyndham hotel you can find views of the ramp.

AIRSIDE

No problems from the windows.

HOTELS

Wyndham - A little expensive and looks like it would have great views. Unfortunatley the whole exterior of the hotel has been designed to prevent views. From the fourth floor which are executive or club rooms, there are views from the lounge area. But you are looking through small gaps between slatted wood so its not ideal. Saying that you can read off anything taxiing for departure and one or two things on stand.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Not very busy. Most of the local carriers will pass through in a day. However some will disappear for several hours before returning and some will operate out of Guayaquil or other places. Nothing else of Interest here.

LATACUNGA

Less than a two hour drive from Quito and has some stored aircraft. Good views can be had from the perimeter.

B727s HC-BLV, FAE-691 and FAE-620 are here along with a few other military bits and a few B737s.

GUAYAQUIL

A smaller version of Quito with a good chunk of the local carriers fleets passing through in a day. was quite a few GA aircraft. DHLs ATR HC-CDX lives here along with Gulfstream N933RD which as WFU at the time.

About a 45 minute drive away at Rey Park (Parque Aquatico) is a preserved B727 HC-BHM in a very colourful scheme of animals and Disney characters.
