LANDSIDE

A brand new Terminal 3 has opened. Not sure if it offers any views.

 

A fence next to the terminal 2 which is for Air Tanzania and Precision Air allows you to eyeball a couple of remote stands where the ATRs and DHC8s park.

 

Terminal 1 is for GA and had several smaller types including some caravans parked.

AIRSIDE

Terminal 2 – Not great but there are a few windows

 

Terminal 3 - Should have good views of the runway. However its only used for international carriers so domestic airlines probably can’t be seen when on stand.

HOTELS

Blue Sapphire Hotel a couple of KMs away. Excellent hotel with a nice restaurant. They provided transport. Departures came straight over the hotel. If arriving from this direction then you may get views from rooms facing the main road. If not then a large window front on the 3rd floor gives distant views of the runway and some stands. It may be possible to read stuff off arriving or departing from here but it was dark when I arrived. Wifi worked well for flightradar24.

WHAT TO EXPECT

A left hand seat to arrive and right to depart is your best chance of seeing whats on T1 or by the hangers.

 

A large number of the domestic fleets depart early morning with all Air Tanzanias DHC8s, an A220 and 5 Precision Airs on the ground. Movements during the day are very sporadic.

 

A few international carriers of note being Rwandair, Uganda and Ewa Air ATR from Mayotte

 

 

A Precision Air ATR42 is WFU by the hangers. According to my database it should be 5H-PAG. Also a Fastjet E190 was down in this area?
