GLOBAL SPOTTING REPORTS
SYRIA

Damascus – Apr 2010
LANDSIDE
Don’t remember there being any views from the terminal. On the way in and out of the airport you can see some aircraft on the government ramp. All 4 IL76 tails could be seen when I was leaving which was nice. Its possible to drive around the perimeter and get distant views of the aircraft here. They are too far away to get but you can count tails. There were 2 Y40’s in the terminal area and 4 parked down here so that accounted for all 6 of them.
AIRSIDE
No problem getting aircraft on the ramp from here but no views of stored or government aircraft.
HOTELS
Don’t think so
WHAT TO EXPECT
Fairly quiet and mostly Syrian Airlines with a few other flights from the region.
However if you are lucky enough to see them most of the Syrian fleet is parked up here. A left seat for arrival and right seat for departure will be your best chance. Hope you use the right runway and have your camera ready. Check out google earth to get an idea.
Parked by the hangers:
All 6 B727’s
YK-AIA, AIC T154’s
9L-LDM B727
9Q-CQK B707
Parked on the government ramp
Lots of T134’s, Y40’s, AN26’s and IL76’s. All or most of the fleet should be around so count numbers and hope your camera does a good job.
