GLOBAL SPOTTING REPORTS
AUSTRIA
Vienna – Jan 2014
LANDSIDE
There are no views from inside the terminal. There are two multi storey car parks that allow good views and most movements should be seen.
P4 gives good views of several remote stands and a few terminal stands and the threshold of runway 16 can be seen, which was being used for all arrivals at the time.
P3 gives good views of some terminal stands and remote stands where Niki park and has a partial view of runway 11/29. Also any Bizjets taxiing would have to taxi past this point.
The Biz ramp is located a long way away, adjacent to the Runway 11 threshold. It would be a very long walk and a car would be useful. Not sure if there are any spots on the perimeter.
AIRSIDE
Depends on which gates you are flying from as to how much access you have and what views of the runways you would have. The part of the terminal I was in only had limited views of a few stands. I suspect it may be easier to stay on the car parks
HOTELS
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Majority of the Austrian Airlines and Niki fleets should be seen in half a day. Dash 8’s from Croatian, Air Baltic and Lot amongst other regional carriers make this quite an interesting airport and there should be several biz around. Well worth a visit and Bratislava and Budapest aren’t too far away if you fancy driving around.
